Formula One Legends: World Championship 1978

Lauda made a brave move during the winter, leaving Ferrari for the newly AlfaRomeo engined-car Brabham, leaving his seat to the young Gilles Villeneuve who drove next to Reutmann.

Andretti easily won the first race of the season and continued the championship with other 5 victories, which brought to him an expected World Title. The American driver was able to constantly staying in between the first  top 3 – 4 drivers each race while other drivers, such as Reutmann or Villeneuve didn’t keep the same pace during the championship.

Andretti won the world title in front of Ronnie Peterson, who died during the Monza GP. Reutmann arrived 3rd, Lauda didn’t fail and arrived a good fourth, followed by Patrick Depailler.
